This is for and about home cooks - the women all over the the world (and through the centuries) who put dinner on the table every night. They know how to cook quickly, easily, economically, healthily and satisfyingly whether for one or a dozen.

Part memoir, part diary of shopping, cooking, reading and thinking about putting supper on the table, by a former fashion/design writer/consultant whose secret love has always been food.

Spectacular American Halloween Displays!

I have not been in America for Halloween since I cannot remember when and the exuberant, playful displays in Manhattan, Brooklyn, San Francisco and suburban New Jersey these past weeks were so spectacular that I had to share them with you!

Spooky and scary.

And, most fun of all, coffin cookies at the wonderful B Patisserie in San Francisco (more about this great pastry spot in a future blog).

Spiders & ghosts were everywhere, plus spiderwebs, ghouls, skulls and, of course, traditional bright orange pumpkins. Most fun: walking down a New York city street to see happy children (plus parents) starting to put up decorations - and then walking back along the same street the next day to see the whole magnificent display. Just a sampling is seen here.
